Safety is a key pillar of Moving I-4 Forward. The continued safety of those working on Interstate 4 (I-4) - in addition to the drivers who navigate the road daily - will ensure the project’s success. Here are some of the program’s planned safety initiatives:
Reconfigured interchanges will reduce traffic back-up along ramps.
Express lanes will improve overall traffic flow and reduce the number of congestion-related crashes.
Three counties will see improvements from the Moving I-4 Forward Program. Five mega projects and the Accelerated Start project will make improvements to interchanges on I-4 in northern Polk County, Osceola County, and southern Orange County that will reduce back-ups and congestion along the interstate and on entrance and exit ramps.
FDOT has taken a collaborative approach to allow the delivery of these complex projects that span multiple county and FDOT district boundaries. With collaboration and innovation in mind, the CPO is ensuring the Moving I-4 Forward projects progress in a safe, accelerated, and effective way.
