Project 4 is the easternmost project in the Moving I-4 Forward Program and spans Osceola and Orange counties. This project will connect to the existing Interstate 4 (I-4) project under construction in Orange County headed toward Orlando. That project is adding one express lane in each direction. The Moving I-4 Forward program will continue the single express lane and add a second express lane in each direction. One new express lane will be built from southbound State Road (S.R.) 536 headed west on I-4. On the eastbound side, one of the two express lanes will exit I-4 toward S.R. 536 and allow motorists to head either north or south at a new traffic signal. This will increase access to the nearby theme parks.
At the Osceola Parkway interchange, existing I-4 bridges over Bonnet Creek will be revamped; however, the Osceola Parkway bridges over I-4 will be rebuilt due to their age.
Construction on this project will also be built simultaneously with Project 3 on the western end.
The Moving I-4 Forward Program will consist of five main projects plus an initial phase called the Accelerated Start that includes two additional components to jump-start future construction.
- Accelerated StartAccelerated start will add congestion relief lanes in each direction from east of U.S. 27 to east of World Drive
