Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to close State Road (S.R.) 429 southbound from Sinclair Road to Interstate 4 (I-4) from midnight until 5:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026 (Thursday night/Friday morning).
The entrance ramps from Sinclair Road to S.R. 429 southbound and to I-4 east and I-4 west from S.R. 429 southbound will be closed until the operation is complete. Traffic will be detoured via Sinclair Road to Old Lake Wilson Road to County Road 532, where motorists can access I-4 east and I-4 west. Detour information is provided below.
The road closure will allow crews to shift S.R. 429 southbound traffic (see graphic below) toward the median from north of Sinclair Road to I-4. Additionally, the I-4 east and I-4 west on-ramps from S.R. 429 southbound will be slightly shifted from their original alignment.
Construction activities for the shift, including lane closures, will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, and continue until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23. Motorists may experience minor delays as crews switch traffic.
This operation will advance Moving I-4 Forward Project 5 as infrastructure improvements continue in the area.
The work schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. Motorists should maintain a safe speed and stay alert when navigating the new traffic pattern.
Detour information:
- For I-4 eastbound from S.R. 429 southbound, take Exit 1A, then turn left onto Sinclair Road eastbound. Turn right onto Old Lake Wilson Road southbound and continue for approximately 2.5 miles, then turn right onto C.R. 532 westbound. Continue on C.R. 532 for approximately 1.3 miles and stay right to access the on-ramp for I-4 East toward Orlando.
- For I-4 westbound from S.R. 429 southbound, take Exit 1A, then turn left onto Sinclair Road eastbound. Turn right onto Old Lake Wilson Road southbound and continue for approximately 2.5 miles, then turn right onto C.R. 532 westbound. Continue on C.R. 532 for approximately 1.5 miles, then turn left to access the ramp for I-4 West toward Tampa.
