The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Moving I-4 Forward program announces the launch of the Moving I-4 Forward Construction Training Program. This program is a groundbreaking workforce development initiative designed to meet the growing demand for skilled labor along the I-4 corridor.
Designed for job seekers who are interested in the Construction and Transportation industry, the program offers paid, hands-on training that allows you to gain the necessary skills to accelerate your career.
Starting August 18, an Introduction to Basic Craft & Trades training course will begin with a four-week, hands-on training experience that includes simulator-based instruction, classroom learning, and career-readiness support. This course will be followed by two weeks of on-the-job training or two weeks of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and a path towards a CDL Class B Certification.
Florida’s I-4 corridor is undergoing one of the largest infrastructure transformations in the state’s history—and it requires a powerful workforce to make it happen. With an estimated 1,500 skilled workers needed to complete the improvements, the demand for trained professionals in construction and transportation has never been greater. The Moving I-4 Forward Construction Training Program was created to meet this urgent need by equipping trainees with the skills and certifications necessary to step into these critical roles and help drive Florida’s future forward.
In addition, FDOT and the Moving I-4 Forward team has made a bold commitment for 25% of the program’s workforce to be trainees. FDOT is not only investing in the infrastructure—but also in people, creating real opportunities for individuals to build their futures while helping build Florida’s.
